Our Story
To tell this story properly we have to go back to 2017 and introduce Harriet. Her and her family own and manage a retail mews called Millstream Square, situated by the Nine Foot River in Sleaford; a quaint market town within Lincolnshire. They had an ambition to host markets in the square and began visiting other events to do some market research.
Christmas 2017 was the first event Harriet hosted; a (very) small Artisan Market, with only 5 stalls and live music but much to her excitement, it was a success! Over the next couple of years, Harriet continued to host smaller scale markets and did a considerable amount of research by talking to Artisan traders.
Fast forward to 2020, it was set to be the biggest and best year yet. However, due to Covid-19 only one of the four markets went ahead.
In spring of 2021, a new member joined the team to help bring the markets back with a bang, introducing Sophie! Together, Harriet & Sophie organised 3 epic summer markets that saw well over 20 traders (plus a waiting list) at each event and an average footfall of over 2000 people - something really awesome for a small market town like Sleaford.
Covid brought an explosion of emerging entrepreneurs and a willingness from consumers to support small & local businesses. With rumbles of discontent from seasoned traders about current online platforms and repeated thanks and comments to the team about how fun and different their events were and how invested the team was in their success on the day; a new idea was born!
What if we can create a new and unique platform? Something that is different and fun? A home, that values people and wants to help them grow their business? A place where artisan traders of any size can come experience the same atmosphere that distance prohibits them from experiencing? A family, where they know they have people behind them, promoting them, supporting them, encouraging them and willing them to succeed.
Our mission is simple. To support the big dreams of small businesses by helping to change the way we shop.
